About Me

My name is Elsie Gilmore, and I live a happy and fulfilling life!  I consider myself a modern girl with earthly tendencies... a modern hippie.  I grew up on a dairy farm in rural Vermont and gained a sense of awe and wonder about nature at an early age.  But I'm also a huge computer geek who builds websites for a living.  I've always strived to have a reduced impact on the environment and learn new ways to do so.  I'm definitely not perfect, but I strive to practice what I preach.  I'm a pescetarian (which means I only eat fish, not meat), but once a month I might need a hamburger to get my energy level up.  I use my clothes dryer once or twice a month, but the rest of the time I hang my clothes up to dry on my clothesline or indoor drying racks.  I turned off my cable and get my entertainment from the radio, internet, books and actually leaving my house.  My water and electric bills are lower than anyone I know.  Plus, I sold my car and replaced it with an electric scooter which keeps things interesting and adventurous.  When I'm not riding the scooter, I'm bicycling and using public transportation.

I built this website as a resource in your journey toward living a simpler, greener and more satisfying life.  I want to provide you with the tools necessary to live a wholesome, satisfying, healthy, happy and responsible lifestyle while contributing less to the environmental problems already plaguing our Earth.  And remember, reducing your negative impact on the earth reduces your negative impact on yourself and others as well.  Most importantly, living a green and simple life can be fun!

I am an accredited LEED Green Associate and a Certified Permaculture Designer.  I am enrolled in Vermont Law School's Master of Environmental Law & Policy and intend to use this degree to make even more of a difference.

I welcome your comments, suggestions and ideas!

Very truly,
Elsie
